MISSION
The mission of the Resource & Crisis Center of Galveston County, Inc. is to promote the safety, well-being and best interests of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking and to advocate for the prevention of such crimes.
Safety
RCC provides safety to our clients through protective orders, safety planning, and residential shelter.
Well-Being
RCC provides well-being by empowering survivors through support groups, medical and court accompaniment, and supplying basic needs.
Best Interest
RCC provides for the best interest of victims through case management, job readiness training, and a college education to ensure the long-term success of our clients.
Advocacy & Prevention
RCC advocates on behalf of clients through services, resources, and life planning strategies; and by motivating others to assist towards prevention.

•Women’s Resource & Crisis Center was founded as a program under YWCA
•Original mission- to provide services to victims of domestic violence
•Establishment of first office (Catholic Galveston-Houston Diocese)
•First Director was hired
•501(c)3 was received
•RCC became a dual agency (domestic violence and sexual assault)
•First Resale Store opened- League City
•RCC Resale opened in Texas City
•Judge Susan Baker approached RCC about the need for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
•CASA was established
•RCC Resale opened in Galveston (Broadway Street location)
•Purchase of 2202 Ave L- Administrative Office
•2002 Shelter was purchased
•Name was changed to Resource & Crisis Center of Galveston County, Inc.
•Hurricane Ike made landfall on Galveston Island
•Administrative Office moved to 1802 Broadway
•2009 •Shelter was reopened

•CASA became its own non-profit
•2015 RCC Resale moved from Texas City to La Marque
•Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church was purchased by RCC

Today, RCC is recognized as a dual service agency through both the Texas Council on Family Violence (TCFV) and the Texas Association Against Sexual Assault (TAASA). The Resource and Crisis Center is mandated to meet legislative standards as a service provider for victims of family violence and is a certified Rape Crisis Center through the office of the Attorney General.
RCC provides core, comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence through our Family Violence Center and to victims of sexual violence through our Rape Crisis Center to support their transition from victim to survivor. RCC’s client services include: 24-hour sexual assault and crisis hotline, residential emergency shelter, crisis intervention, advocacy, medical accompaniment, case management, therapy referrals, and legal referrals. The continuum of services offered to our clients is designed to facilitate an inclusive healing process that leads to life free from violence.
